Paracelis Focal Person - Roxanne Gumilab (Climate Action Labs)

The Mountain Province Climate Field School is a learning and action platform that brings together farmers, communities, local governments, universities, students, and partners to address real climate challenges across the province.
The Field School connects climate learning with practical action. Instead of learning about climate change only in classrooms or seminars, participants work on actual challenges affecting communities, such as changing rainfall, water shortages, agricultural productivity, extreme weather, renewable energy, forest management, and food security.
The initiative can use Mountain Province State University and the Climate Field School in Paracelis as a knowledge and learning hub, while municipalities, barangays, farms, schools, and communities become local learning sites. This creates a distributed network where knowledge can move between researchers, government, farmers, students, and communities.
Paracelis can serve as an important demonstration area. Through Kakarefin Academy and the local innovation ecosystem, Climate Field School activities can connect with smart agriculture, renewable energy, climate resilience, AI-assisted governance, social finance, and Zero Hunger initiatives.
Participants will learn by doing. Farmers can share local knowledge and test new practices. Students and faculty can undertake applied research. LGUs can identify climate problems and develop projects. Partners can contribute technology, expertise, and financing.
The long-term goal is to make Mountain Province a living climate classroom, where communities continuously learn, experiment, and develop practical solutions for a more resilient future.
Build climate knowledge and skills among farmers, students, communities, and local government personnel.
Develop and test practical climate solutions in agriculture, water, energy, forests, livelihoods, and community resilience.
Connect local climate initiatives with universities, government agencies, businesses, and financing partners so promising solutions can grow and be replicated across Mountain Province.
